Another rainy afternoon, my thoughts are racing like raindrops. Which will hit the ground first, I wonder. I reach for my coffee but grab the mouse instead. Login. Welcome to Numenon version 0.5.
The software. Still in the zeros but different now. Better somehow. Yeah, we fixed it up good. Sidepane slides now. What else can you ask really? At least from a sidepane. The Entry view doesn't hurt my eyes anymore. Those dynamic lists are getting more dynamic options. I guess, you could see that coming. And yes, you can finally use it on your phone. Numenon now fits in your pocket, though spiritually it remains too large to contain.
What's new
- Emails got dressed up. No more naked text. Fancy bastards.
- New fonts too. Typography that doesn't make me want to throw my monitor out the window.
- Labels allow you to change the colors now. Like rainbows for the corporate slaves. Pick your prison bars in red or blue.
- Dynamic lists got new filters. Filter by current user or current time. Like the software knows you're there, watching your life tick away while you click and drag.
- Find entries with no labels or with all selected labels. More ways to sort the mess that happens to be your digital life.
- New URL fields that act like a URL field. Fucking revolutionary.
- You can now click on an entry mention and actually choose how to open it. Sidepane? New tab? New window? Your move.
- Sidepane got a little makeover. It now respects its borders. No more sideways scrolling. It fits. It behaves. Miracles happen.
- You can finally use it on your phone. Like, really use it. No pinching, no rage zooming, no "I'll just wait till I’m back at the computer."
- Uploading .wav and .mov files is now possible. For those of you out there mixing beats or filming fish tanks. File size limit still applies, we’re not made of servers.
- Billing is here. Invite your friends wisely. New folks will need a subscription. Let them buy their way into the cult. Read more about the pricing here.
- A new tutorial is out:The PARA method: A simple implementation to organize your digital life
The grind of progress (Changelog)
- Autocomplete redesigned
- Drag and drop works better
- Fixed that goddamn back button
- Titles and fields line up now. Default fields got grey backgrounds. Subtle. Like the difference between Tuesday and Wednesday.
- Little stuff everywhere improved. The kind that you don't notice until it's fixed.
This update won't fix your life. It won't make the rent cheaper or your kids love you. But for a moment, while you're clicking through your digital cell, it might feel almost beautiful.
Almost...
